Classic Pumpkin Scones

Deliciously spiced pumpkin scones topped with a sweet maple glaze. Perfect for fall!

Ingredients:
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ cup unsalted butter, frozen
– ⅓ cup + 2 tablespoons heavy cream
– 1 large egg
– ½ cup canned pumpkin puree, blotted
– ½ cup light brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
– Coarse sugar (optional for topping)

Maple Glaze:
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
– ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
– 1 cup sifted confectioners’ sugar
– Pinch of salt

Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: To 400°F (204°C). Line baking sheets with parchment or silicone mats.
2. Prepare Dry Ingredients: Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt in a bowl.
3. Incorporate Butter: Grate frozen butter into the flour mixture until pea-sized crumbs form.
4. Mix Wet Ingredients: Whisk heavy cream, egg, blotted pumpkin, brown sugar, and vanilla. Combine with dry ingredients.
5. Shape and Cut Dough: Form dough into an 8-inch disc, cut into 8 wedges. Brush with cream and sprinkle with coarse sugar, if desired.
6. Bake: For 20-25 minutes until lightly browned. Cool slightly.
7. Make Glaze: Melt butter and maple syrup over low heat, whisk in confectioners’ sugar and salt. Drizzle over warm scones.
